Friends...

Wow, what a topic to start another blog!! I am really amazed at what the word does to our day to day life. It brings out a smile on each of our face when we remember the best moments of our life and it is really pleasant that in most of these we find our friends.

Contributing to the much said and followed word in our lives I want to add my thoughts to the topic.

Well, friends are definitely the people I look for when I feel depressed, out, happy, want to have fun and what not. I enjoy having their company in whatever times.

Then there is friendship, the ship which takes you across the biggest of oceans and flies you across biggest and highest of mountains. Friendship also helps you anchor in storms, twisters and what not.

Okay, so enough of praise for both friends and friendship, now to some of the realities. We may want to believe in “LOVE THY NEIGHBOR!!” but that doesn’t always translate into our life. In our everyday life not every person we interact with are not our friends, and not everyone who calls us a friend is our friend.

I have a certain standard and definition of Friendship/Friend, which is:

  1. A friend should accept me as I am, and I should accept him/her as such.
  2. It is very essential that we respect each other for our beliefs, standards etc.
  3. I or he/she should be genuinely interested in others happiness and not jealous.
  4. We should be able to share more than good times and also as much as the bad times and this should be true for both the parties.
  5. Openness and frankness and trust are three other essential pillars.

Well, these are just the basic standard I have for friends. I don’t expect anything more; neither do I expect anything less.

Sometimes, we expect too much from our so-called friends. Spending only good-times together do not qualify as being friends; neither does using people for their own needs; neither being in the same room or same place does.

Well, I am sometimes surprised, that some so-called friends who believe that I cannot see beyond the façade. I don’t believe in having or continuing relationship for nothing. There should at least be something on stake for me to try to save a one-sided friendship.

So, to say more clearly, I don’t believe in these so-called friendships. All said and done, I do believe a lot in friendship and friends.

Some of my friends are separated over time as well as distances, but when we meet, no matter for what little time and wherever, we enjoy being with each other and share a lot of stuff. I seriously believe that friends are for more than a life time period.

All of my friends can listen to my rantings forever, empathise/sympathise with me on issues without agreeing to them, takes me as I am and is always there for me to fall back on.

There are a select few whom we term as BEST FRIENDS, but the definition of these friends blur over a period of time and all of the other friends start falling in the same category, but then there are certain others who can never recede from the status of being the best of friends.

I have one very very special bestest friends with whom I share my soul; I am very possessive about this friend and that may be one major reason why I married her.

To give a conclusion to this topic is really difficult as friendship goes on and on forever…

P.S. But here is a request for some people reading this, please don’t try to fool people around yourself to believe that you are their friends when you are not, because it hurts more than a heartbreak when people find out the truth. You can always recover from heartbreak but not from a friend’s treachery. After all it is believed that CEASAR died when he saw BRUTUS among his murderers and not because of the stabs from others.

Life & 4-Dimensions

Hmmm, being philosophical is not really easy and when many people have spoken on the subject of LIFE it is really easy to digress...

Let me take a different view and path on the subject. I have been fond of physics and mathematics from the time i don't even remember. I remember the story one mathematician used, to stress on why it is difficult to realize and visualize more dimensions. The gist of that story is :

A single-dimension object wouldn't the be able to visualise a two-object as such; it will visualise the two-dimension object as a collection of single-dimension objects; similarly a two-dimension object will visualise the three-dimension object as a collection of two-dimension objects and so-on and so-forth. This is why a three-dimension object (as us) cannot really comprehend the concept of 4-dimensions and more dimensions.

Now, why this story is important to us? Because it not only shows that there is more to life than the eyes see and the brain comprehend, but it also shows, that it really depends on us what we want to see...

I have learnt that TIME is not only a dimension but it is much more. It provides more dimensions to life than we could imagine or comprehend. With time wounds heal, with time we learn to live, with time we learn to grow, we learn to enjoy, we learn to love. This learning increases with time and grows with life.

Life, without time, alone is as meaningless as time without life. It is irreverent to talk about one without referencing other. The whole concept of time is so much part of life that we cannot really think of it. Now, let us come back to the point, rather to dimensions.

Life shows us more dimensions than we could imagine, it moves us through different phases from place to place and what not! Dimensions, phew, it is really a very small space to talk about these!! Dimensions grow as we grow, as time grows and as life grows.

But dimensions are not limited to the PHYSICS or MATHEMATICS aspect of it. They go beyond, way way beyond the science of it... let us explore the different dimensions of life itself :)

Life, means different things to different people and it has different values to different stature of people. Some, perceive life as a gift, some perceive life as a result of bad deeds done in past life. The perceptions and their respective understandings keep on differing. But, what i find more interesting is that these keep on changing even for a person over a period of time.

As i go more and more into the topic, i find it interesting that how different things get linked from one another without looking similar. On a 1000Ft level we may find things as different as possible but when we move closer to the subject, it becomes increasingly woven into a pattern.

We find ourselves as much a part of that woven pattern, as any trivial animal or any tree or any thing which is part of our life. Some may call this divine, some may call this science, I don't categorise it anywhere. I take things (or rather these dimensions) as life itself.

I beleive time is life and life is time; and the way we spend our time is how our life shapes up.

Phew, that is it for now!! WILL DEFINITLEY BE BACK WITH MORE!!

Me, Myself & Life...

Introduction: This is my first blog and what I am writing here will able you to understand and identify with me in better terms. So, here we go...

A Thought and a Second: ... I always thought that it would be cool if I got everything I wanted for myself easily. But, life had other ideas for me! I mean, it's not that I am struggling a lot and there is much I should get which I am not getting and not even that I expect a lot from life. But, there is always this little hope that someday, some fine day I will get what I wanted and more without much effort. Well guess what "EASIER SAID THAN DONE!"
Well, when I give this thought a thought, I find it hilarious that the line of thinking is no different than that of a man who lies on a bed and thinks that he will get whatever he wants without effort. But, nevertheless, as we say in Hindi/Urdu "kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai..."

Among some other thoughts is one where I am the king of my own world and others just follow what I say or do. Oh, I wish this one comes true earlier than any other. But again to give a second thought to this, what fun the world be if everyone does what I say or do? None, right...!!

There is always this second thinking process in my mind which keeps going on, no matter how much engrossed I am in one thought or activity. People working in the current Software/Hardware environment may term it as "second thread" in my brain processing system. And this "second thread" keeps questioning me about the first thread; questions like - Why, this way? What if...? and How...? etc. I sometime think this is my conscience, but then is conscience negative too? Because I keep getting this negative second thoughts too!!

I really don't know, right now my second thread is asking me "Why this line of questioning?" so, let me leave it at that...

Philosophy: Well, I always follow my own philosophy, so I generally don't end up having philosophical discussions with people...

Present: Having said that, I have come a long way in this short lifespan and seen a life which I never imagined. From a world which is encompassed only by parents/grandparents and family friends to a world full of friends to the present day cut-throat competitive corporate environment, I have experienced and met people from different walks of life.

The most amazing aspect I find is that each time I see a person I analyze him/her in a new way and each time I analyze him/her I know that there is much to learn.

Good or Bad: Ma always says that when we look at others we should try to imbibe the good qualities in them and just forget about the bad qualities (even not to criticize those!). But to do that it is necessary to know "What is Good and What is Bad?"

Well, that is a controversial/debatable question which I don't have an answer to. My take on people and the good and bad part of them is that they are what they are, they are so because their surroundings, their social network, their family, their education, their friends are like that. It is really difficult to change any of these, which makes it difficult to change ourselves for better or worse. We are definitely the product of our thought process and our thought process is governed by all of the above. Again, the definition of good or bad then is derived from the present day scenario and circumstances and the thought process combined together. So, what is good for one might not be good for other, and again what is bad for one might be good for another.

So why does society and we differentiate and judge people on the basis of good or bad? Why not segregate people on the basis of our preferences rather that good or bad?

Enough is enough... So, this brings me to the end of this blog! Often it is not the language or the passage which conveys its meaning but the thought which goes in it. So I leave you with another of my thought (which may be fairly common among people!!):

"Shabdon ki ek zubaan hoti hai,
khayalon ki ek alag duniyan hoti hai!
Donon jab mil jaate hain to,
ek alag hi daastan bayan hoti hai...!"

which translates to:

"Words have their own language,
Thoughts/Dreams have their own world;
When both of them meet,
A new tale is written!"
